I was wondering what people thought of these buildings, and if anyone could do buildups/snow/shadows.

Don't use resource packs and you'll get much nicer results!

*sigh* Bitmap is hardly an improvment over PCX, its suprising it actually displays it, usually it doesn't.
for posting images, you want to use PNG, JPG or GIF, and for things like this, i advise against JPG, so recoment either PNG or GIF, actually, i recomend PNG, but it might be hard to save in PNG if you are using windows 98, which i assume you might be, since you seem to be working directly with PCX.
in any case, something to keep in mind for next itme ;P
about the buildings though, they are not bad cut and paste attempts, but its not something i'd use. thing to remember about buildings is, remember what you did, so later you can do it again to make a buildup! ;p making buildups is what killed my motivation to make cut and paste SHPs... i think i managed to complete 1 building with a buildup, and the others were my gates, not buildups, but gate animations. the other killer is snow versions.

not bad, its just that newbies who post PCX and BPM images are usually using windows 98 and MS-Paint. i think prime will tell you that using photoshop will later making creating a buildup easier, assuming you keep everything you paste in its own layer.

yeah, they're all on their own layers. I've already found it very useful.

Don't use resource packs and life will be easier.
Just an example of what one can do without resource packs, and a tiny bit of spare time (this took me about 10 minutes.) Of course, you also need knowledge of the general aesthetics, but that's childs' play.
Note that some lighting may be a tad off due to not using photoshop cs3 to correct it. This was all done in MSPaint.

Must've been the parts I used. Oh well, for a 10 minute attempt... I really didn't use a single resource pack (I dont even know where to get one anymore). But the parts I used fit perfectly for what I had in mind, so I don't really give a shit if it looks like it came from a resource pack, it did what I needed it to, and that's really all the matters in the longrun. But it is very hard to make things look nice JUST from RP parts. And just looking back, only around half of the pieces I used would be found in a resource pack, if that.

I don't see how there's any difference, if it's cut and paste it's cut and paste regardless of whether you got the bits from a pre cut pack or did them yourself.
Still looks the same.
