Well i was reading one of my editorials, and they were saying the us should just pull out of iraq right now, which i think is stupid. Now mind you i never supported the war in the first place, but if the government dosen't finish what it started the rest of the middle east is going to be even more mad at us. Honestly i think we should finish rebuilding their country, and leave. Then start weening our depency on oil and leave the middle east alone completely. They don't bother us, we don't bother them.

What is your opinion?

Supposedly not true, we (Britain/America) were bombing several countries. It just didn't make the news until after 9/11.

Here's a little news flash, Afghanistan is in Central Asia, not the Middle East. Every so often we'd have events come about in the Middle East or go and do something in it, but we didn't invade a middle eastern nation until over 2 years after 9/11. In fact, we had been pulling troops out of the region.

America has bombed 24 countries since WW2, none of them were a threat to America in any way.

Hey, Now your just starting shit. Theirs nothing wrong with it, unless people take shit too far. Like you're doing. All i can say is it dosen't matter what anyone says aslong as you respect each others opinions and not try to force your views on other people. Its not like what we have to say here is going to make any course of change for our countries forigien affair policies. Besides, i only wanted to see what everyone else thought. Cause you know its good to have a broad specter of veiw.

Oh and clazzy, its because if we went fought some who was a threat to us we'd get our asses kicked. We usaully do anyway.

I disagree with your notion, Jason. We kinda had this whole 'fascism is wrong' opinion during the 40s and happily enforced it upon other people and you know what, lots of nations and folks turned out all the better for it.

We bombed Kuwait in '91? Gee, that's not misleading people in anyway considering Kuwait in 1991 was kinda annexxed to Iraq at the time, and a coalition of most nations on Earth happily beat Saddam back, including the UK.

Then Cuba wasn't a threat to us? Um, it's 90 miles away and kinda had nukes pointed at us at one time...

Maybe it was bad phrasing. They never actually threatened America directly, though. I'm sure the Soviets had submarines wth nuclear missiles floating off the American coast, but America never bombed the Russians. Attacking Cuba is good incentive for them to launch their missiles at some major cities though, don't you think?

Bay of Pigs predates the Cuban Missile Crisis. We actually didn't attack cuba when push came to shove later, and we didn't attack Cuba directly the first time either, we had Cuban exiles do it for us.

THANK YOU FOR ENLIGHTENING US, BECAUSE NOBODY ON THIS FORUM KNEW THAT GRENADA EXISTED. ESPECIALLY WHEN WE'RE ALREADY DISCUSSING SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES. NOPE, NOT AT ALL.

Real nice bump...

Additionally, has the concept of mutual defence or allies never come to your attention?
Or perhaps the concept of moral duty?
Many countries listed were hardly happy regimes. Bombing Yugoslavia got rid of Milosevic, that well known humanitarian, and the Korean war was UN mandated.
And you're not suggesting the UN is a war monger are you.

That site has a slant so great it's almost bloody horizontal.

that web site made me laugh
for one thing the use of DU in weapons is used by more than just the us
The UK, Germany, russia, china, and a good number of other militaries have adopted it as well.
that article about us bombiing countries made me burst into laugher because it was so inaccurate as to what it was talking about
cambodia and vietnam was the vietnam war (abiet useless? thats a dif topic)
somalia, kosovo, kuwait, yugoslavia, & iraq were all UN mandated, but America bears teh brunt of fighting UN wars because it seems like we are the only ones that are willing to accomplish sumthing other than sitting around
thats my point of view it hink and although the us is messed up in certain respects i think the media is skewed against the us. Being as how we dont know anything about the war in iraq u know...or how an israeli jet was shot down and seemed to ignite a tire fire....and the same woman shows up in 5 different pictures of lebenon....the associated press is a tool for terrorist manipulatioin
