Hey guys,

We havebegun to work at a new mod called C&C: Red Alert Revolution some time ago. We are currently in planning and concept phase until all important Mod Tools are available. The topic should be clear: it's about an alternative continuation of Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge.

We are still looking for active members for various jobs. If you're interested check out the "Help Wanted" section of that Mod or in the "Jobs" section at our website.

Sounds pretty decent. Will you add things that were in the concept art also, or just do vanilla RA2?

I hope it works well for you.

However, I will say this. Another RA2 TC? No offence, but can we have a new type of TC? A beautiful C&C3 ==> HomeWorld for example. That would look fantastic in the updated SAGE engine.

Not criticising you persay, just that everyone is doing mods for previous C&Cs these days and almost no-one is doing one for anything else

I guess we'll add some new things, too as well as some of YR (like the Siege Chopper) if they fit with the rest. However, it won't be a vanilla RA2 at all. Models will change, new units and buildings will appear. We don't want to copy the original game, that's our primary aim.

Believe me, I understand your point. Some months ago I probably would have said the same, but... you know I'm a C&C fan. I can't identify with any other RTS so much like with that series. That's the reason why only the RA universe is possible for that TC. That mod will differ from all the rest (I know it sounds strange) but just wait for the first in-game Screenshots or Render pics and you'll know what I mean :)

In addition: you may have seen what happened to HaloGen Mod for ZH... They had to cancel their mod after months of very hard work. That's the danger when taking any other game as the basis. I don't want something like this.

The easiest way to avoid HaloGen is to e-mail the company themselves.

I know the HaloGen point, because i've seen many a promising SG-1 Mod get canned by MGM because of the coming SG-1 Alliance game, which was subsquently cancelled. I mean, any company is right to protect their IP and that comes with it's costs, like HaloGen. I'm sorry for what happened to them, but it really was Microsoft's call. Like I said, we all want to protect our IP, just that sometimes HaloGen situations happen.

I understand your reasoning btw, but then again it doesn't have to be another game you copy though does it? Razz

I personally find the idea of mods which aim to "Recreate game X, with everything you love (except the things we can't make work) and all new stuff that we think is cool!" kinda pointless.

If you're going copy RA2, but have a different storyline, different unit/building graphics, and new units... what exactly is RA2 about it, except the names of some things?

Wouldn't you be much better off to come up with some new names, etc, to go along with your new fiction then pitch it as an "All new universe; if you loved the setting and tone of RA2 you'll love this!"?

That way you don't have to worry about being foxed like Halogen.

hm...

It's the same with every other mod or even game serials. What did you expect from TW? Of course it is a continuation of TS/FS. So you see old and new things in TW. Same with most mods, which are a re-make of most preferred games, only a few of them are really creative and dare to make new "games" out of it. (I've done it with "Tower Defense" once and I decided to don't repeat something like that)

I know what you mean. Of course we must copy RA2 so far from gameplay and visual appearance (I don't mean copied models with that). That's not the question. And for every mod team the only limitations are given by the engine. Nobody can break that rule, so if anything isn't really possible, we probably have to cancel it. But before this we try the best to make it possible.

During a long time with various logo designs our GFX Artist Phyritox has just finished this final Logo that combines typical and classic C&C elements together with a fresh wind of art indicating a continuation of RA2 what this total conversion for "C&C: Tiberium Wars" will be actually.
